《牛仔褲的夏天》改編自安·布拉謝爾(Ann Brashares)于2001年出版的同名小說，當回想起創(chuàng)作《牛仔褲的夏天》的靈感時，她說：“當時我正在和一個朋友聊天，她談起曾和幾個朋友共同分享一條褲子，于是出于種種原因，我產(chǎn)生了很多不同的想法。我猜想誰會穿這條褲子，這對他們意味著些什么，以及命運會將他們帶向何方。”
